What Injuries Are Attributed to Slip and fall and Auto Collisions?

Interviewer: What other sort of injuries are you seeing there?

Adam Hunt: Predominately it tends to be soft tissue damage versus hard tissue. Soft tissue injuries involve the muscles and ligament. Hard tissue injury is less common, which would be broken bones, things like that.

This is because typically it requires significantly more force or a larger impact to create the hard bone injury, especially in an automobile. I think you see slip and fall have more fractures or hard tissue damage.

When Do the Majority of Auto Collisions Occur?

Interviewer: What is the most common time of day that auto injuries occur?

Adam Hunt: I would say more of them occur during the day just because there are more people out and about and more opportunity for that accident to occur.

What to Avoid If You Have Been Injured in a Collision or in a Commercial Establishment

Interviewer: What are some of the mistakes that people make upon being injured?

Do Not Accept a Settlement from the Insurance Company—Always Speak to an Attorney after an Injury

Adam Hunt: Some people try to settle with the insurance company on their own. They do this, not understanding that the insurance company wants to hurry up and settle before a latent injury might manifest itself. An injury such as a back injury may manifest two months afterwards. They’ve already settled at that point in time.

That would be the biggest mistake you could ever make. I would say the first thing that anybody wants to do would be call an attorney, don’t talk to the insurance company.

What Questions Can You Expect from the Insurance Companies after You Have Been Injured?

Interviewer: What is the role of insurance companies in this case, when do they come into play? What are they going to start asking?

Insurance Companies Try to Have Individuals Agree to a Medical Prognosis Shortly after the Accident to Avoid Compensation for Latent Injuries

Adam Hunt: They’re going to start immediately asking about the nature of the accident and the nature of the injuries. That early in the game, a person probably wants their car fixed first, which isn’t a major issue.

The issue always really revolves around the health of the person, which doesn’t necessarily manifest itself until a week or two later. Even if it’s just a few days, you get in a bind where a person has agreed to set up something to settle the claim, they don’t realize that there are latent injuries out there.
