Ohio Officer On DUI Patrol Struck By Drunken Driver
BLUE ASH, Ohio – On Thursday, a cop who was on patrol to catch impaired drivers, sustained injuries after his vehicle got hit by an intoxicated driver.
A 34-year-old Cincinnati man was behind the wheel, driving intoxicated when he hit the cop in the Cincinnati suburb of Blue Ash.
William Fritts has been serving the department for almost 15 years. He was sitting in his department-issued SUV on Ronald Reagan Highway watching and looking out for impaired drivers when he was hit from behind at about 3 a.m. His vehicle was pushed 30 feet away from the spot where it was parked. He sustained back and neck injuries.
The intoxicated driver was driving with a BAC level almost double the legal limit for which he was taken into custody and charged.
The case is under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
