CLEVELAND, Ohio – According to the police, a 33-year-old Cleveland man is dead after a driving under the influence accident that happened on Sunday night in Ohio City.
Around 9 p.m., the incident occurred at West 28th Street and Washington Avenue.
The victim was riding in the front passenger seat of a speeding 1991 Nissan 240SX when the 25-year-old driver hit a median wall. The car stopped atop a guardrail. Police believe the driver from Streetsboro was impaired and was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The passenger was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police spokesman Sgt. Ali Pillow said that the driver will be charged with aggravated vehicular homicide once he recovers from the injuries sustained in the accident.
The victim will be identified by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.
